But hey, let’s not forget that this is a baby walking toy.
So, does it perform well as a baby walker as it does as a stimulating toy?
Let us first dive into the package contents:

Breakdown of the Vtech Baby Walker
Let’s analize this baby walking toy into 4 categories: Safety, entertainment, durability and value for money
1. Safety
The main safety concerns of these types of baby standing up toys is the risk of falling. If the walker goes too fast, the baby can just fall on her face. If it is not sturdy enough, the baby can just fall back and possibly injure her head.
Luckily with the Vtech baby walker the wheels come with an adjustable 2-speed control. So this way here, you can actually choose how fast the baby walker is going to roll. As your baby gains more and more stability while walking, you are able to set it to a higher speed.
On top of that, you can set the toy to lock mode. Your little one can then just stand and enjoy some stand up toy while playing. The problem with this function is that it doesn’t seem to hold perfectly. Meaning, the baby may still be able to push it even in lock mode. It is not a huge amount, but it does move slightly. You can buy some thick rubber bands and set them up around the wheels to help with this.
As for the tip over danger, some supervision is required. You see, this walker is very lightweight. So there is no sturdiness and there is a risk that the baby will fall on her back. Just keep an eye on your little one when they are standing up on it.
Another common safety concerns are the material and detaching pieces. The toy is made entirely of non toxic plastic and there are no dangerously small detachable pieces.
So… our verdict is that the Vtech sit-to-stand learning walker is safe to use, but some supervision is necessary.
2. Entertainment
How does the Vtech walker performs as learning toy?
The play panel is definitely a handful. You will find shape sorters, (wireless) pretend telefone, piano keys, little animal buttons and a lot of music and sounds coming out of it. Sometimes the sounds seem to come out of nowhere. Yes, very cool for babies, not so much for parents.
Babies seem to be definitely very entertained by it, but my main criticism is that it is way too much happening. Some of the noises and music happen independent of the action of the baby. This kind of defeats the purpose of a learning toy.
Despite that, this is still a great walking toy and if your baby is anything like ours, she is going to spend hours exploring and being delighted by the over 70 sounds, and colours, and shapes, 5 piano keys, etc.
3. Durability
As many other products from Vtech, this toy is durable.
It is really high quality. You will find that the assembly can be a little hard and that the pieces don’t just snap right in. However, this is exactly what makes it quite reliable in terms of its quality and durability.
Just be aware that the pretend phone is wireless. Since there is no chord connecting it to the station, there is a risk of losing it. We have gone through entire days when we had no clue where that darned phone was.
As a whole, the unit is quite durable and good quality.
4. Value for money
At $34.95, the price sits right bellow average of the market for similar baby standing up toys.
This makes this offer really popular with over 127 units being sold per day on Amazon (!) and over 7500 reviews.
You can find other popular offers which offer more features, like the iPlay, iLearn sit to stand walker which comes with the extra function of drawing on top of the regular activity table and baby walker ones. However, the iPlay, iLearn walker sets you back $66.99 for this extra function.
Therefore, in our humble opinion, the Vtech walker is a clear winner here.
Pros and Cons on the Vtech sit to stand baby walker
Pros:
- This toy has a great lifetime. It is good to babies 9 months old all the way up to 3 years olds.
- It is easy to store and easy to clean.
- Super entertaining. Your little one is going to be hooked in it. All the possible sounds and buttons are just perfect for when the baby using it in sitting mode.
- High quality pieces. Good durability. Great second hand value.
Cons:
- Super entertaining for babies. Not so much for parents. The music seems to come out of nowhere sometimes. Even when the baby is walking on it, as the sensors trig it.
- Tip over danger. The walker doesn’t weight much. Therefore, there is a chance that the baby will fall back.
- Too distracting when the baby is learning how to walk. The play panel tends to distract our little girl when she is pushing it and trying to keep up. She just can’t help but try to press and play with all the buttons and keys.
Is the Vtech baby walker worth it?
Yes. It is. Bigtime!
Considering all the features, possibilities, and the price we are totally safe with this verdict. The Vtech sit-to-stand learning walker is the best option out there for baby stand up toys.
We weren’t sure if our little girl really needed a walker. She learned to walk fairly fast even without a walker but this toy has been great so far. It gives us many minutes of piece as our little princess spend minutes at a time in it. So, if you are considering a baby walker for your little one, this one is a great option.
